Bills Close Out Preseason With Win Over Lions
‘J.P. Losman was a perfect 5 for 5 with 52 passing yards and Kelly Holcomb was a perfect 4 for 4 with 82 passing yards. Craig Nall threw the Bills lone passing touchdown, but also threw an awful pass that was easily intercepted by the Lions. Overall the Bills have to be happy with the way their quarterbacks progressed over the preseason. Especially their starter J.P. Losman.’
Losman Perfect; Bills Win
‘Willis McGahee contributed a 25 yard run on the drive and scored the touchdown. Craig Nall’s 70 yard touchdown pass to Andre Davis in the fourth quarter produced the winning margin. The victory was Buffalo’s first of the preseason.’
Led by poised Losman, Bills’ starters take center stage
‘After such an eye-opening effort last night, it’s safe to say the Bills’ starters may be headed into Foxborough with little to lose and, more importantly, little fear.’
Position Battle Evaluation
‘Our goal was to come out and start fast,” said Losman. “We’ve been sluggish the past couple of weeks at the start. Our focus was to come out strong, eliminate little penalties. That’s what we accomplished. I feel great after this start. Every week we’ve been progressing. What we put together is really setting us up well for week one. We’re ready to roll.”‘
Peerless Price – Third Quarter @ Detroit
‘On how comfortable he is with JP: I think we’re getting there. I’m comfortable with JP, like I’ve said before we did a lot of work together in training camp. We’re comfortable and he’s getting me some balls and we’re getting in a rhythm. As an offense we’re still coming. That first drive was great. Hopefully we can start the season off like that against New England.’
JP Losman – Third Quarter @ Detroit
‘On people thinking he looks different this year: A little bit, I’ve seen it before, I’ve done it a little bit and I’m getting more comfortable and it’s starting to get exciting.’
Dick Jauron – Halftime @ Detroit
‘On the successful first drive: It was good to see that happen. We ran the ball pretty well and JP (Losman) threw the ball pretty well. We got a couple of bounces for a change that went our way. We protected well and did what we’d like to see happen.’
Larry Tripplett – Halftime @ Detroit
‘On the defense’s first half performance: I think we’re still coming together as a defense and starting to hit our stride as the season comes upon us.’
JP Losman – Halftime @ Detroit
‘On the fast start: Our goal was to come out and start fast. We’ve been sluggish the past couple of weeks at the start. Our focus was to come out strong, eliminate little penalties. When we break the huddle, sprint to the line and look sharp out there. That’s what we accomplished today.’
Buffalo Bills Postgame Transcripts
‘Willis McGahee on the team’s confidence going into New England
“It’s a real good confidence booster. We know we can go out there and execute plays and do what we gotta do and everybody can do their assignments, you know we can’t lose.”‘
Buffalo 20, Detroit 13
‘Losman completed all five of his pass attempts and McGahee scored on a 1-yard run, helping the Buffalo Bills beat the Detroit Lions 20-13 Thursday night in the exhibition finale for both teams. Losman threw for 52 yards, and McGahee ran for 29 yards and the TD on the opening 13-play, 85-yard scoring drive. Losman, who won the starting job earlier this week, also played in Buffalo’s second series but didn’t attempt a pass.’
