‘Overall, I really like the way Dick Jauron and his staff run practices. Jauron observes, and his coaches coach, and there isn’t a lot of yelling or cheerleading. Gregg Williams and his staff were famous — maybe infamous — for that, and Mike Mularkey’s staff also seemed, overall, a bit louder.’

‘As far as members of the Buffalo Bills go, Nall may have the most to lose in the team’s upcoming game. A solid performance will bring him right back into the race; a poor performance, however, will likely end his chances altogether.’

‘"I’ve always had to deal with it, you know, `He’s not quite big enough,’" Williams said. "But I made a ton of plays in college. I really count on and expect myself to be able to do that now, still."’

‘Coach Dick Jauron didn’t have an immediate update on Jackson’s status, but the undrafted rookie free agent out of Coe College was spotted walking on crutches afterward.’

‘Greer found his confidence at the right time, and used a perfect stage to display it. He’s being pushed through camp by second-year player Eric King for playing time in the nickel package, but has played well, especially in intrasquad scrimmages. “Jabari’s got a lot of athletic ability,” said George Catavolos, the Bills’ defensive backs coach. “And he’s a had a lot of production in 7-on-7 against our own people. It’ll be interesting to see what he does against other competition.”‘

‘Royal is listed as the top tight end on the team’s depth chart and appreciates the relationship he’s starting to develop with Losman. Especially after the quarterback was recently named the “front-runner” by coach Dick Jauron. “It’s hard when you have two guys, and now three guys with Craig (Nall) back, trying to be the starter,” Royal said. “Each one throws a little differently and when you get to the top of your rout, you want to know how to expect it.”‘

‘”This is a tough sport, there are tremendous highs and tremendous lows sometimes,” said Holcomb. “I’ve been around long enough to know that you’ve just got to keep plugging. I’m not happy, but that’s where I am right now. You can’t get discouraged. When something like that happens, human nature is to get discouraged and yesterday I was a little discouraged, but what can you do? You’ve got to come out and you’ve got to perform and we’ve got a game this Friday, so I’ve got to go out and do well in that game.”‘

‘(on JP being the front runner) That’s the business, I’ve been around it long enough. You have to go out and perform, changes are going to be made and decisions are going to be made. It’s hard sometimes not to hang your head, but you have to come out here and compete still and that’s what I tried to do today.’

‘(on if the offensive line has a preference at QB) Not really, we have faith in whoever is behind us. We’re definitely behind every single quarterback that plays whether its Craig, Kelly or JP, we’re behind them 100%.’

‘(on what’s at stake for him) I’m very anxious. The sooner I get back the better, but at the same time, I’m being smart about it so it doesn’t reoccur. I’m trying to get back to myself and the rhythm of playing football again.’

‘"We’re actually, for this time in Training Camp, we’re pretty healthy, knock on wood," Jauron said this afternoon following the Bills’ practice at windy St. John Fisher College. "We’ve been fortunate. So far so good. You don’t want even one, but we’ve been fortunate."’

‘"There are things I have to work on personally to help this team progress," Losman said. "The guys want a quarterback who can go in and get the job done. And, if I can’t do that, they aren’t going to want me. If a guy is not taking care of business and doing his job, you have to look elsewhere."’

‘”He played well and he’s still getting comfortable,” said Losman, named the quarterback front-runner Monday night by coach Dick Jauron. “The more reps he gets the more comfortable he’s going to get. He’s a very talented guy, and we’re going to start seeing a lot of things come out of him.”‘

‘Still, I have no sympathy for Holcomb. His performance in camp has been timid and uninspiring. He’s content to make the safe, easy throw, while Losman tries to make plays down the field. Holcomb acts as if he’s accomplished big things in the NFL. He’s a career backup. All along, I’ve felt the coaches wanted Losman to start, and Holcomb needed to knock him out to win the job. But Holcomb is trying to finesse his way to No. 1, and he’s on the verge of being KO’d.’
