‘As promised, Jauron gave equal time to quarterbacks Kelly Holcomb, J.P. Losman and Craig Nall during mini-camp. There are two more sessions planned for May and June before training camp starts in late July. There won’t be a clear-cut starter by then, setting the stage for an intense competition through the pre-season. “That’s been our plan and we’ll stick to it right into training camp,” Jauron said. “Then we’ll see where it goes from that point on.”‘

ARSN Interview: Joe Ferguson
‘I have been back to Houston for two check ups since my last treatment. Everything during the check up came out good. I have to return to Houston in September for my next checkup. My doctors say they don’t expect any complications. I have gained most of my weight back and with the workouts I have been doing, my strength is coming back also. I still have a few problems with my feet, but they seem to be getting better. My out look on life is a lot slower now than before. My belief in God is much stronger now. I really believe if God had not been with me I would not be here today.’
Mom’s Young Man in the Middle
‘"When I watched film of that defensive line every once in a while I thought that maybe McCargo was the best of the three," said Haering. "Just because he is big and would flash his quickness and do a lot of things. I said to the defensive line coach, ‘I think that defensive tackle might be your best player because he has so much potential.’ He said, ‘Yeah he just needs to learn how to play and be more consistent."’
Another Kelly shuffles to Buffalo
‘Brian Kelly, Jim’s 6-6, 310-pound nephew, has signed to play at the University of Buffalo. "We didn’t plan it that way. It just sort of happened," said Pat Kelly, Brian’s father and Jim’s brother.’
Bills should lock up Peters long-term
‘It would be unwise of the Buffalo Bills’ front office to allow Peters to test the free agent waters next offseason because he very well could find a lucrative contract. He’s unknown to most, but a player similar to him, Kyle Kosier, was paid $16 million this offseason by the Dallas Cowboys . However, in recent years the Bills haven’t necessarily been adept to paying that kind of money for offensive linemen, which may be cause for concern in Buffalo. Peters may follow Kosier’s lead and earn a fairly large contract in return for adding steadiness to a team’s line.’
Coach McNally Q&A
‘You have eight new linemen this year would you consider that high turnover from one year to the next?
JM: It probably is high turnover, but most of that turnover has come from the backups and reserves. There hasn’t been as much turnover among the starters from last year. The only starter that’s changed right now is Trey Teague.’
Former LSU star Williams learns pro game
‘"It was nice to see those guys (Reed and Royal) up there," Williams said. "It’s a good feeling because you know that they will be there for you, answering any questions you may have or giving you advice when you need it. Those guys have been in the NFL so they know how things work and I’m just glad to know that I can turn to them when I need it."’
SVSU’s DiGiorgio gets chance he wanted with Buffalo Bills
‘The reason that the 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker was not drafted was because of his speed, which when measured by a stopwatch is not quite as good as some others. This, SVSU coach Randy Awrey said, sometimes would throw off the scouts, especially the younger guys. The older scouts, though, watched film of DiGiorgio and saw a linebacker who went sideline to sideline with speedy running backs while delivering vicious hits. They saw that the guy can play football, enough so that Jacksonville, Green Bay, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Buffalo all showed interest in DiGiorgio in the days leading up to the draft. Of course, he wasn’t drafted, but was able to pick a situation for himself in Buffalo.’
Posey to DE is an interesting option for the Bills
‘Although he’s only 241 pounds, the left defensive end position could be a good place for Posey to transition. Currently, the Bills’ strikingly unspectacular duo at that particular spot includes Ryan Denney and Chris Kelsay, two ex-second-rounders who have failed to live up to their draft status. Because of that, it might be worthwhile for Fewell, and head coach Dick Jauron, to at least give Posey a crack at the position. If he fails, then cut the cord on the experiment and simply move on.’
Bills promote Bogdan, Owen
‘Bogdan, the only active female scout in the NFL, is team owner Ralph Wilson’s daughter and previously served as the Bills corporate vice president. She has also worked in the team’s scouting department since 1986.’
Bills Promote Bogdan and Owen
‘The Bills today announced that the team has promoted Linda Bogdan to Vice President/Assistant Director of College and Pro Scouting and Mary Owen to Vice President of Strategic Planning.’
Former Buffalo Bill Jeff Burris Opens Up About Thoughts of Suicide
‘One night, Burris says the pain, the darkness, and the emptiness took over, “I was sitting there and I was like ‘there’s no use.’ No one needs me anymore. I just thought about grabbing the quickest thing and cutting my wrists.” Burris passed out before he could harm himself.’
Fewell’s First Impressions
‘"Our defense is not high on volume in the number of things we do, but we’re high on details with respect to what you must do in the scheme," Fewell said. Basically there are a limited number of base sets in Buffalo’s new defensive system, but the details within those packages are what the players must master. "That’s the process they have to go through now," said Fewell. "They have to increase their thinking and learning so they can play fast. They don’t have a lot of defenses to reference."’
Higgins puts action against NFL on hold
‘Rep. Brian Higgins said Tuesday he is putting off – for now – his request for hearings on whether the National Football League’s dealings with the Buffalo Bills violate federal antitrust laws. The Buffalo Democrat said the Bills’ inclusion on a committee handling the details of a proposed new players’ contract indicate that the NFL "seems to be doing the right thing."’
Power drive
‘He’s the starting running back for the Buffalo Bills. He lives in a condo with a fabulous view of Miami. He’s rich. And, he’s got three cars — a Porsche Cayenne, a BMW 645 and an Infiniti QX56 SUV. Now if I were 24, rich, living in Miami with three cars, where would my mind be most of the time? Why on the opposite sex, of course.’
