‘Safety Lawyer Milloy agreed to terms with the Atlanta Falcons Friday on a three-year contract worth more than $6 million, including a $2.5 million signing bonus, according to Kevin Poston, one of his agents. The four-time Pro Bowler was released by Buffalo two weeks ago, a move that saved the Bills $3.75 million against the cap next season in the final year of Milloy’s four-year contract.’

‘"I really like the acquisition of Larry Tripplett. That’s a guy who can be an immediate contributor in a spot where the Bills needed immediate help. He’s a veteran guy who knows how to play and apparently is a pretty good fit in the style of defense that Dick Jauron and Perry Fewell want to play."’

‘"It’s pretty good team overall," said Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly. "I think some of the best ones… Dan O’Leary he’s definitely an MVP Irish candidate for me. Oh but the MVP right off the top is Paul Maguire."’

‘Personnel officials also spent much of the day working out details on a deal to secure former Pro Bowl safety Lawyer Milloy. Milloy, a 10-year veteran who spent much of his career with New England before playing the past three in Buffalo, visited the Falcons Monday and was offered a three-year contract.’

‘”He’s a Bills kind of player. He’s as blue collar as they come,” said Jack Bechta, Bowen’s San Diego, Calif.-based agent. “He’s a Chicago guy, and Levy and Jauron are Chicago guys. It just felt right.”‘

‘Bowen, who had 14 tackles in 13 games with the Washington Redskins last season, is expected to compete for the starting free safety position created when Lawyer Milloy was cut earlier this month.’

‘He becomes the fourth free agent signed by the Bills and second defensive player, joining tackle Larry Tripplett. Bowen is expected to compete for the starting strong safety spot since the team released veteran Lawyer Milloy earlier this month.’

‘He was a sixth-round pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2000 before moving to Green Bay for two seasons. He is also a strong special teams player.’

‘Since entering the NFL as a sixth round draft pick for St. Louis in 2000, Bowen has played in 72 games and started 30 over the course of his six-year NFL career.’
