‘The Bills held their annual mini-scouting combine this week. Every bye week under President and General Manager Tom Donahoe, the Bills have invited roughly 75 street free agents for a day of workouts.’

Bye, bye, Buffalo
‘With the luxury of a bye week to get healthy and forget about the ones that got away, the Bills should stay in the AFC East race for at least another week.’
Spikes Says Recovery Going Well
‘Bills President and General Manager Tom Donahoe said Thursday, the Bills would hope to have Spikes back for the start of Training Camp. Spikes, with a smile, says he’s told his teammates that if they made the Super Bowl – he thinks he’d feel well enough to play.’
Bills’ youth field finished
‘A new 500-seat bleacher section and a press box has been completed at the Buffalo Bills Youth Football Stadium next to Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.’
Truth be told, ESPN crew is maddening
‘At one point, Patrick became Moulds’ cheerleader, saying “he’d love to get a touchdown here.” Unfortunately for him, ESPN’s cameras spotted the receiver on the Bills’ sidelines.’
Bills find a way to rewrite the record book
‘So, let’s see if you know your “official” Buffalo Bills history with this trivia quiz. All answers are based on information in this year’s media guide.’
Bulletin Board/Notes and events
‘A number of Buffalo Bills will serve as fashion models in a dinner and fashion show presented by 51 Ways for Charity and the Buffalo Bills Women’s Association. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Adams Mark Hotel’s Grand Ballroom.’
Bills must regroup on offense during the bye week
‘Will Buffalo commit to utilizing Willis McGahee? The former UM star is proving to be a true workhorse and has emerged as one of the top running backs in the NFL. This guy needs to tote the rock at least 20-25 times a game in order to take pressure off the quarterback (whoever that might be) and control the tempo of the game. If the Bills want to win more football games this year they need to give the ball to McGahee early and often.’
Donahoe: Don’t count Bills out
‘"We certainly proved last year we can come back," he said. "We think we can do the same thing this year. Nobody liked losing the other night (in New England), but we felt the performance is possibly something you can use as a springboard the second half of the year."’
Assignment mistakes plaguing Bills in the red zone
‘Adams is a one-gap, penetrating defensive tackle. He never has been a two-gap, pure space clogger. He’s better at penetrating than Anderson. They need to get him doing what he does best and hope Anderson plays better the second half.’
Donahoe befuddled by failure to close games
‘”It’s pretty obvious the defense hasn’t played up to the standard they’ve established here the last couple of years, and that’s disappointing,” Donahoe said when asked to assess the team’s overall play. “We think some of it is correctable, and that’s what we’re working hard to do during the bye week. The other thing, just generally with regard to the team, is that we have to be more consistent. We’ve seen examples and flashes of pretty good play in all areas, but we haven’t seen it yet over a consistent basis for 60 minutes.”‘
Donahoe not conceding Bills season with AFC East race wide open
‘"But I know this," he added. "We still feel we have a legitimate chance to compete for the division title. And our players believe that and our coaches believe that. And really, that’s all that matters."’
Bills CB Thomas likely out for season
‘Thomas, Buffalo’s sixth-round pick in the 2002 draft, has been out since he had surgery last spring to repair a broken bone in his right knee. He aggravated the injury before training camp and was forced to have surgery a second time in September.’
Single Seats for Three Left Home Games
‘Approximately 3,500 seats remain for the November 27 contest versus the Carolina Panthers, while the other three contests against Kansas City (Nov. 13), New England (Dec. 11) and Denver (Sat. Dec. 17) have only limited single seats available.’
Bills, Losman Ready for Second Half
‘"J.P. could go back in next week or he could go back in three weeks from now," Bills President/General Manager Tom Donahoe said during a chat with the media Thursday. "I don’t know when it’s going to happen, that’s Mike (Mularkey’s) call. When he does put him in I wouldn’t interpret it as we’re trying to get ready for 2006."’
