‘Buffalo also lost starting free safety Troy Vincent, who hurt his shoulder in the second quarter. Without providing the extent of the injury, the Bills announced Vincent would not return.’

Bills’ Holcomb leaves with head injury
‘Holcomb was injured in the second quarter after he was sacked by Jared Allen and had his head bounce off the ground. On the play, Holcomb fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Chiefs. He walked off on his power, but did not return to the game.’
Bills DT Adams misses Kansas City game
‘Bills defensive tackle Sam Adams was listed as inactive because of a knee injury for Buffalo’s game against Kansas City on Sunday.’
Bills’ offense aims to stay in control
‘”It hasn’t been our style of football,” acknowledged tight end Mark Campbell. “We haven’t averaged that many points, that’s for sure. Ideally we want to keep it a low-scoring game with a ball-control offense. You hope your offense can control the ball a lot of the time so you keep your defense off the field. They can’t score too many points if they’re not on the field.”‘
Rested Bills should be ready to get back in division race
‘Bills 27, Chiefs 24.’
System-wide breakdown
‘Fletcher’s numbers have fallen precipitously. His 54 tackles through eight games project over a full season to about a 33 percent decline from a year ago.’
Rejected by Bills, Tucker misses the thrill of the game
‘”You go home and everybody says the same thing,” Tucker said Saturday by phone. ” “You started 12 games last year. What are you doing here?'”‘
Bills hot at home
‘The Bills fully expect the Chiefs to pound the ball on the ground today, especially against a run defence that is surrendering an average of five yards per carry.’
The scouting report
‘Kansas City is 1-8 all-time at Ralph Wilson Stadium, the lone win coming in 1986, Jim Kelly’s fourth game for the Bills.’
Urgency marks 2nd-half kickoff for Bills
‘”With the bye coming after eight games, it’s very similar to a game,” coach Mike Mularkey said. “We had a frustrating first half, it’s halftime, and we need to come out and do better in the second half. It’s 0-0, let’s see if we can come back and overcome the first half.”‘
Bills Q&A: Josh Stamer
‘The New York Giants … NFL Europe … Seattle Seahawks … You paid some serious dues during 2002 before winding up in Buffalo after being spotted during a free agent combine. Were you ever discouraged?
“It was discouraging, getting cut in Seattle’s training camp and sitting out that whole year, but I just kept working out. I never had a coach tell me that I wasn’t good enough to play, it was always a numbers game I was in. They told me to keep trying and hopefully you’ll find that right fit.”‘
Bills fighting to keep playoff hopes alive
‘”The last four games we’ve done a good job of moving the ball and against New England, we held the ball for almost 40 minutes,” he added. “When you can keep a team on the sideline like that, offensively you’re doing a pretty good job and we’ve got to keep that up (against) Kansas City (which) has a highly-potent offense.”‘
Vermeil’s still got guts
‘Vermeil’s decision also got the attention of the Bills’ offensive players who expressed hope their coach would make the same choice. “He had a lot of confidence in his offensive line that they could get the job done,” said veteran guard Chris Villarrial. “As an offensive lineman, when your coach has confidence in you like that … it feels good.”‘
Bye, bye Buffalo
‘”There was a time when I wanted to have a long career with the Bills. But what happened to me is common for young quarterbacks. If you look around, with personnel changes and coaching changes, it’s not unusual for a coach to say, ‘We’re going to bench you and go with somebody else.’ “‘
