‘Bills were ready to play. Defensive game plan was solid. Special teams had good schemes to shut down Hall. Trick play on fourth-and-one in the first quarter failed miserably. The decision to move Mike Williams from right tackle to left guard was a colossal failure. Williams was benched, but only after allowing the sack that knocked Holcomb out of the game.’

‘”I like to play mad,” he said shortly after sparking the Bills (4-5) to the win. “I’d rather play with a chip on my shoulder. I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder. I’m going to keep this chip on my shoulder because I’m just a better person all around.”‘

‘This time, after spending four weeks of reflection on the bench, J.P. Losman will be up to the task if the Bills give him back his starting job. It’s very early to know if he’ll have a second act, but some observers in Buffalo believe if the Bills go that direction, they’ll get a calmer, less scattered version of the quarterback who went 1-3 and looked lost as a starter earlier this season.’

‘But naming the starter won’t be head coach Mike Mularkey’s dilemma. At this point, he has no other choice but to go with the 2004 first-round pick, the man who the franchise sees at their future. The problem is, when Losman begins to struggle again, whether against the Chargers or someone else over the final seven weeks of the season, do you dare give the youngster the hook again?’

‘Holcomb suffered a “very good concussion,” according to Mularkey, but no decision is going to be made right away. However, the coach was impressed by Losman’s play and it will make for some interesting evaluations in the week to come.’

‘The Bills defense did allow Larry Johnson to rush rush for 132 yards, however, they did not allow a touchdown, intercepted Trent Green three times, generated a fumble and picked up six sacks.’

‘The Bills were outplayed in every statistical category. The Chiefs had a 3 to 2 advantage in yards and a 22 to 9 advantage in first downs. The Bills had the one advantage that matter, on the scoreboard.’

‘The defense played their best game all year. They allowed the least amount of points in over two years. It is reflected in our grades.’

‘But the Buffalo Bills defense was the big story. The defense sacked Trent Green six times, intercepted him three times, and forced him to lose a fumble. Add to that two missed Tynes field goals, and Kansas City didn’t have a chance.’

‘The Chargers catch the Bills at a good place this season: away from Ralph Wilson Stadium. Buffalo is still searching for their first road win of the year today. The Bills are 0-4 this season when playing outside of Upstate New York.’
