‘Chris Villarrial returned to practice Thursday after spending Sunday night in the hospital because of an intestinal disorder that doubled him over in pain and limited his breathing, forcing him to miss Buffalo’s 20-14 win over Miami. Without divulging the exact nature of the condition, Villarrial said he is taking medication and expects to play when the Bills host the New York Jets on Sunday.’

‘Stadium parking lots open four (4) hours before kickoff, 12:15pm, and close approximately two (2) hours after the game.’

‘Did you try anything against Miami to draw them into more penalties?

Kelly Holcomb: No (laughing), everybody keeps asking me that but my cadence didn’t change so obviously they weren’t used to our cadence and I’m glad it worked out for us.’

‘"I’ve been around so long I don’t worry about that stuff any more," says Holcomb, a nine-year veteran. "Coach (Mularkey) told me last week I had one game, and that’s all I could ask for, just a chance to get out there on the field and help this team get a win." Holcomb came through in spades. He completed 11 of his first 15 pass attempts and finished 20-of-26 for 169 yards and a touchdown in the 20-14 win. And this for an offense that had only scored 29 points in the previous 14 quarters.’

‘”We need to throw it down the field a little more, there’s no doubt about that,” Clements said. “I think we can get that accomplished.”‘

‘”He really started Monday with some soft toss, just trying to get a good confidence-builder in the hands,” coach Mike Mularkey said. “Today . . . he did more than I anticipated. We’ll just see how it goes. . . . But he caught the ball pretty well.”‘

‘I know coaches can’t look past this week. They should take it one week at a time. But we’re allowed to speculate. Holcomb makes the Bills better now when they need to win games. Until the focus is “wait ’til next year” Kelly should the the QB.’

‘In what can only be described as a case of extreme, almost laughable paranoia, Bills coach Mike Mularkey yesterday refused to announce his starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Jets at Ralph Wilson Stadium.’

‘”It (criticism) probably is a little unjustified and unfair, but we’ll take it, we’ll take the criticism if people think it’s our responsibility,” Anderson said. “I think we’re doing some good things.”‘

‘His triumphant return at an age when most football players have morphed into couch potatoes is the stuff of schmaltzy, Hollywood movies. Both he and his much-younger teammates are having a ball with it as they prepare for this week’s road game against the Buffalo Bills.’

‘The Buffalo Bills went back to their past with throwback uniforms earlier this season. Now, the New York Jets have gone back to their past with a throwback quarterback.’

‘People can assume all they want that Kelly Holcomb will start at quarterback for the second week in a row over J.P. Losman when the Bills play host to the New York Jets Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Just don’t expect coach Mike Mularkey to make anything official.’

‘Jason Peters, who made the squad last year as a rookie free agent TE then switched to tackle full-time during the off-season, switched his number from 71 to 86 last week. Does that mean he’s a TE again? Not exactly.’
