‘When Ralph Wilson spent $25,000 for a franchise in the upstart AFL in 1960, he couldn’t have dreamed how much his Buffalo Bills would be worth 45 years later.’

Spikes Is Playmaker For Bills
‘”Spikes is fast, strong, instinctive and he seems to be in the right spot all the time,” said Bucs tight end Anthony Becht, a former Jet who faced the Bills twice last season. “As far as the AFC is concerned, he’s the best weakside linebacker out there.”‘

Which AFC East team could overtake the Pats?
‘The Buffalo Bills are coming. They’re not at the Patriots’ level yet, but they are starting to attain a needed balance of offense and defense.’
Losman ready for test against stingy Buccaneers
‘"Looking back, you count their win last week and they’ve won nine of their last 11. The last 10 games (2004) they averaged 28.6 points a game on offense. The difference was they had Bledsoe. They have a really good offense, and they’re not going to take that offense and let Bledsoe get away if they don’t think this guy is good."’
Buffalo Bills at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview
‘It will be interesting to see how Losman and a revamped Buffalo offensive line will fare against a veteran Buccaneer defense with a corps of All-Pro 30-somethings – Derrick Brooks, Simeon Rice and Ronde Barber. Chances are Losman will remain somewhat under wraps, Griese won’t remind anyone of Peyton Manning, and the game will be low-scoring.’
Rebuilding by the Bay
‘”You look at the salary cap spreadsheets that you’re handed, and yeah, you know the inevitable is going to happen. When you’re $20 million to $30 million over, whatever it is, you’ve got to get under the cap. . . . We sacrificed some draft picks. And to be honest with you, the last seven, eight years, we haven’t netted much from the draft here.”‘
Bills figure nicely in NFL stats
‘Bills players spent 30 minutes last week in a mass autograph signing session in an effort to raise awareness by fund raising for victims of Hurricane Katrina. More than 200 autographed items, including a J.P. Losman jersey, gloves from Eric Moulds and shoes from Nate Clements, London Fletcher and Lawyer Milloy, will be auctioned on the NFL Auction eBay Web site starting Thursday. All proceeds go to the relief effort.’
Bills guard Anderson senses the confidence
‘”I see a very talented locker room, and I think it’s going to be a snowball effect for us,” Anderson said the other day, talking about the positive vibes bouncing up and down One Bills Drive following Buffalo’s convincing 22-7 wipeout of Houston. “The more we win, the better we’ll look winning.”‘
Ex-coach makes return to Tampa
‘Wyche suffers from cardiomyopathy, a heart disease that he said will force him to undergo a transplant in two to four years.’
