‘The Buccaneers ran for 11 first downs and two touchdowns. They hogged the ball for nearly 39 minutes, leaving Buffalo’s wilting defense looking like my lawn in this summer of little rain.’

Long day of lessons for Losman
‘True, this loss can’t be pinned solely on Losman, but the kid has to shoulder much of the blame.’
The two-minute read
‘Turning point: J.P. Losman running out of the back of the end zone for a safety.’
Buffalo Bills report card
‘This is exactly what Bills fans will have to endure with J.P. Losman this season.’
Taking Their Licks
‘With the offense sputtering to even gain a first down, Tampa was able to dominate the time of possession and keep Buffalo’s defense on the field for nearly two-thirds of the game. Even for a solid defense like the one the Bills possess, asking that much of the unit will eventually lead to them breaking down and running out of gas.’
Bills Offense Just Couldn’t Get It Going
‘”I think it was a lesson learned,” Buffalo coach Mike Mularkey said. “They were more physical and they executed better than we did. This is what can happen when you play a good football team. It’s a wake-up call.”‘
Losman looks lost vs. Bucs
‘”They had a good scheme. They knew where we would be and they watched my eyes the whole game,” Losman said. “We came in high as a kite, but (the Bucs) matched our physicalness and intensity.”‘

Bills’ Losman learns teacher Wyche knows best
‘”I saw inexperience in 100 different ways,” Wyche said. “Unfortunately, you can’t coach it or carry it in your hip pocket. It’s what young ones go through. We’re not disappointed, and we’re not disenchanted.”‘
Bucs Drive Cadillac To 19-3 Win Over Buffalo
‘In my view, I was fine with Losman being replaced, but to put him back in was puzzling. I know that every time a QB is taken out of the game, there is a chance for a possible QB controversy. But why if he just doesn’t have it on a given game, can’t Holcomb come in and see what he has to offer without a controversy starting up? Let either JP finish the game and struggle through it, or let Holcomb come in and see what happens. To pull Losman, then pull Holcomb a series later doesn’t make much sense. I don’t by that he needed to “cool down”.’
Bucs Dominate Bills
‘The Bills offense registered only 8 first downs, seven coming in the second half.’
Pair of Bills Starters Injured
‘Starting right tackle Mike Williams left the game early in the third quarter with an ankle injury and starting middle linebacker London Fletcher was held out of the second half with a hamstring injury.’

Defense Melts; Offense Stinks In Loss
‘Quarterback: J.P. Losman was absolutely awful in this one. He finished the game with just 113 yards on 12 of 19. 74 of them on the final drive. Kelly Holcomb relieved him for a series and went three and out. Grade F-‘
Bills Wilt In Tampa 19-3
‘Remember the dominating performance by the Bills on opening day? Well the Buccaneers put on an even more dominating showing in their home opener as they whipped the Bills in the Florida heat 19-3.’
