Benson continues to elude Bears
‘Parrish still has a cast on the wrist, and the common absence for a broken wrist is six to eight weeks. That would put the second-round draft pick out for at least the first two games of the season. The Bills have not given a timetable for his return except to say he’s out for the preseason.’

Clements shows off worth to Bills
‘It was a game pitting two of the NFL’s best defenses, making for some miserable offensive football. The teams combined for 10 three-and-out series in the first half.’
Mularkey: ‘We didn’t do a good job’
‘He was particularly disappointed with the offense’s play, calling it undisciplined.’
Opposing defenses will key on Willis McGahee
‘It looks as if the Buffalo defense and special teams once again will have to come to the rescue, not only keeping opponents off the board, but putting points on the board as well.’
Chicago 16, Buffalo 12
‘Hutchinson had a horrific outing in this one, completing just 3-of-14 passes for 33 yards and two interceptions.’
Chicago 16, Buffalo 12
‘Adrian Peterson’s go-ahead touchdown run with 1:32 left in the fourth quarter capped a seven-play, 50-yard drive and pushed the Chicago Bears past the Buffalo Bills, 16-12, in preseason action at Soldier Field.’
Bills Lose First Game 16-12
‘Losman was average in this game going 9-of-18 for 82 yards and no interceptions. He only ran the ball once all night. Buffalo’s only TD came when Clements jumped a route, picked off Chad Hutchinson and scored from 31 yards out. Takeo Spikes had a pick and lateraled to Clements who was pushed out of bounds at the three. A touchdown here and Buffalo wins, but on second down, Losman misses the snap, he runs back and takes a 20 yards sack instead of throwing the ball away. Rian Lindell converted a 44-yard field goal to give the Bills a 9-3 lead.’
Bears Beat Bills
‘Bills quarterback JP Losman completed 9-18, 82 yards, 0 td, 0 int. Kelly Holcomb finished 8-12, 96 yards, 0 td, 0 int. Losman has failed to throw a touchdown pass in three preseason games. Willis McGahee rushed 21-61 yards.’
Top Picks Not Present
‘Bills tight end Brad Cieslak had nearly 50 family members and friends in attendance Friday night. Cieslak spent five years at Northern Illinois where he made 47 receptions for 531 yards – an 11.3 yards-per-catch average – and five touchdowns.’
Chicago 16, Buffalo 12
‘Bills quarterback J.P. Losman played the first half and the first series of the third quarter. He completed nine of 18 passes for 82 yards before he was replaced by former Bear Shane Matthews. Orton finished his brief night 7-for-11 for 74 yards.’
