‘Buffalo coach Mike Mularkey wants to see how the strong-armed Losman reacts to pressure, reads defenses, how quickly he finds secondary receivers and how he works behind an offensive line that has two new starters in Mike Gandy and Bennie Anderson. Losman is expected to play about a half.’

Prosper without Parrish?
‘Parrish’s absence helps Josh Reed’s chances to retain the No. 3 receiver job. Reed has struggled the past two seasons, failing to make the kind of impact the Bills expected of him after a promising rookie year in 2002. There had been speculation that Reed’s spot on the roster was in jeopardy this summer, but except for a few dropped balls, he has looked pretty good in training camp.’
Bills’ Cieslak goes full tilt to honor his late friend
‘And the events of June 29, 2003. That was the day Cieslak truly learned to make each day count. To count his blessings. To not take anything for granted.’
Parrish suffers right wrist injury
‘”I don’t know what the emotion is until I find out the facts about (the injury),” Mularkey said. “I’m sorry he missed practice today. These practices are important to him, but there are going to be injuries sooner or later. If he can’t play, we have other guys who will have opportunities to shine.”‘
Boredom now could lead to excitement later
‘Remember the bickering Buffalo Bills of 1989 – the team that would argue about anything, even the color of the artificial turf at what was then Rich Stadium? Well, those days are gone. This year’s version of the Buffalo Bills is coming across as just one big happy family – the kind that Ward and June Cleaver would envy.’
Parrish Status Uncertain
‘”What do we lose without roscoe,” asked quarterback J.P. Losman? “His energy, his quickness, his third down presence there. If somebody wants to guard him one on one it’s very, very tough. So that definitely hurts us. But people get hurt all the time in the NFL and good teams are able to overcome it.”‘
Moorman Garners Humanitarian Award
‘He also has established The PUNT Foundation, whose mission is to support pediatric cancer research, treatment and social programs. He and his wife, Amber, make regular visits to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute to visit children with cancer and his events help benefit Carly’s Club and the programs they provide for families affected by cancer.’
Greer Working to Secure Nickel Spot
‘"I don’t want to look at this opportunity five or ten years from now at what I could’ve done or what I should’ve done," Greer said after a recent practice. "I know that right now I can seize this opportunity and make the best of it."’
Status of Roscoe’s Wrist Unknown
‘"I was definitely one of the guys that wanted to see [Roscoe play]," said 10-year veteran Eric Moulds. "In Green Bay you got to see flashes of what type of player he is going to be. Until you really get into a game situation it’s hard to tell. I think it’s a step back for him but the way he handles it, by coming out and working hard, he’ll be all right."’
Bills Injured WR Misses Practice
‘"I don’t know what the emotion is until I find out the facts about it," said Mularkey. "I’m sorry he missed a practice today. A lot of these practices are going to be important to him."’
Bills WR Parrish expected to miss preseason opener
‘Coach Mike Mularkey said he doesn’t know the extent of the injury. He said Parrish traveled to Buffalo — about a 90-minute drive west of training camp in suburban Rochester — to review test results with the team’s medical director, Dr. John Marzo. That’s an indication the injury is serious. Mularkey, however, would only say that it’s unlikely Parrish will play this weekend.’
Bills place rookie TE Everett on PUP list
‘Selected 86th overall out of Miami, Everett will continue working out on his own and could begin practicing midway through the season. That’s when the team will determine whether to activate him or have him sit out the rest of the year.’
Buffalo (0-0) at Indianapolis (0-1)
‘For Buffalo, all eyes will be on second-year starting quarterback J.P. Losman, who is expected to take the reins of the offense this season. Losman, a first- round draft pick out of Tulane in 2005, has just five regular season pass attempts to his credit as an NFL player. Losman is likely to play at least the first quarter before yielding to backups Kelly Holcomb and Shane Matthews. Holcomb, the former starting QB in Cleveland, will be suiting up as a Buffalo Bill for the first time. The quarterbacks will not have second-round draft choice Roscoe Parrish at their disposal on Saturday, as Parrish is nursing a sore hand. Elsewhere on offense, Buffalo will be unveiling a new left side of the line, with former Bear Mike Gandy taking over at tackle and former Raven Bennie Anderson playing the guard slot.’
