Schedule released
‘The Colts’ preseason schedule, with all dates and times Indianapolis time (CST): Against Atlanta in the American Bowl in Tokyo, Japan, August 6 (Saturday), 4 a.m.; home against Buffalo, August 13 (Saturday), 7 p.m…’.
Stacking the Board
‘"Every once in a while there is some pretty good discussion and it’s better to do it when we’re putting the board together than on draft day," said Modrak. "If I can’t get a disagreement reconciled as a mediator between scouts I’ll hold the grade on the player and we’ll go onto somebody else and then come back to it. There are some egos involved because you’re in a business that’s based on your opinion. You have a conviction about something and you won’t let it go because you think it’s right."’
Bills home in on a fast start
‘The most unexpected date on the schedule is a Saturday night, nationally televised home game against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 17. It’s the latest calendar date ever for a Bills prime-time home game. The previous latest was Nov. 1, 1993.’
McGahee Chat Highlights From ESPN.com
‘[Q]: What football player influenced you the most when you were growing up?
Willis McGahee: Deion Sanders. Just his arrogance and showboating. One day I will be like that guy.’
Packers to play 3 Monday night games, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day
‘Saturday, Aug. 20: at Buffalo Bills, 7 p.m.’
Bills open at home, host Denver in prime time
‘As for balance, Buffalo should have no complaints. Its bye weekend comes exactly in the middle of the year, Nov. 6, and there are four home and four road games in each half of the season. A year ago, the Bills’ bye came in September, meaning they played the final 14 weeks without a break. There is also only one second-half West Coast trip this year, to San Diego on Nov. 20.’
Texans a good opponent for QB Losman
‘It isn’t a killer schedule, particularly the first seven games. If the Bills are going to compete for a wild-card playoff berth, a 5-2 start probably is a must. A 10-6 final record might be good enough to sneak in. It’s asking a lot for Losman to pull it off in his first season as astarter.’
Bills get a break
‘After struggling out of the gate in 2004 the Bills get, what on paper anyway, appears to be a soft start. Of their first five opponents, only the Falcons had a winning record in 2004.’
Texans hit road for start of 2005 season, play primetime twice
‘Houston will open the season on the road Sept. 11 against Buffalo, a team that won six straight and nine of 11 before losing to Pittsburgh in the 2004 season finale. Normally a grueling road test, the Texans should benefit from facing new Bills’ quarterback J.P. Losman in what should be his first career start and playing in Buffalo during a much milder time of year. "I’d probably rather open up the season at Buffalo and not close it out there," Capers said.’
Bills face Houston to open NFL season
‘The schedule, released Wednesday afternoon, includes two night games — at New England, Sunday, Oct. 30, and at home, versus Denver on Saturday, Dec. 17. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN and kick off at 8:30 p.m.’
