‘The decision to hire Robinson is good news for Buffalo Bills fans because it means the team will retain Jerry Gray as its defensive coordinator. Gray, 43, was supposed to interview with Gross this week and would have been very tempted to take the job if an offer came his way.’

‘Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, a former University of Texas player, was contacted by Syracuse and was awaiting a call from Gross to reschedule an interview. Gray has made himself available for media interviews in the last two days and has said he wanted the Syracuse job.’

‘Bills DT Sam Adams will join McGee and Spikes in the Pro Bowl.’

‘It happened in 1965, Schottenheimer’s rookie year as a back-up linebacker, when the Bills defeated the San Diego Chargers, 23-0, in the AFL Championship. Good thing there wasn’t a Super Bowl then, because goodness knows what would have happened to the Bills against Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers. Butch Byrd might have lost his helmet under the bench or something. Anyway, 40 years later, the city of Buffalo and the 61-year-old Schottenheimer are both still looking for their next championship. Both have lost so many times, in such agonizing fashion, that you almost wish they’d stop trying.’

‘"Teams said they started catching up to us, and to a certain extent, yes," Kelly said. "But later in my career we didn’t have the talent we had earlier because people started slowing down."’

”’I’m interested in the job. I think it’s a great job,” Gray told The Associated Press Saturday. ”I’m open. I have a great job here. And if it doesn’t work out with Syracuse, the worst I can do is have 10 starters back on defense next year. I’m in a great situation.”’
