Bills Sign Eight To Practice Squad
‘The Buffalo Bills today signed the following eight players to the Practice Squad…’.
Practice Squad Proves Beneficial for Team
‘"The only difference is that you’re not active during the game," said linebacker Mario Haggan, a former Practice Squad player. "You’re basically still learning the system. It’s another opportunity to continue to be in the system and learn and develop as a player and hopefully in weeks to come you can move up and contribute to the team as an active player."’
Bills Team Report
‘Matthews’ good showing in the final exhibition game might have convinced the team it could live with two healthy passers, which made Brown expendable. Matthews doesn’t have a strong arm, but he is accurate and usually makes good decisions. He also gives the team a backup with experience as a starter; neither Losman nor Brown has started an NFL game.’
Surprise gifts for Bills
‘The surprise walk-on rookie was defensive end Constantin Ritzmann, another Tennessee Vol who was kept in favor of veterans Jason Gildon and Keith McKenzie.’
A look at the 2004 Buffalo Bills
‘Things still have time to work themselves out, but the way things are going right now, the Bills will be lucky to play .500 ball.’
Roster moves surprise Brown
‘"The news is brand new, but I just don’t feel like they treated me right."’
The Bills Cut Gildon And 13 Others
‘Travis Brown’s season could be over as he’s been put on the Reserve/Injured list. If the Bills buy him out they could bring him back after ten weeks, but J.P. Losman should be ready by then.’
Bills Reduce Roster To 53
‘Backup quarterback Travis Brown was placed on injured reserve, meaning his season is over. Earlier in the week Bills President & GM Tom Donahoe stated the team would carry four quarterbacks on the roster and not put Brown on I-R.’
Couch, Gildon, Levens among notable vets cut
Buffalo released LB Jason Gildon and placed QB Travis Brown on injured reserve. Brown also sat out the entire 2003 season with an injury. Gildon, who holds the Pittsburgh Steelers’ record with 77 sacks, was cut six weeks after the Bills signed the 10-year veteran in hopes of bolstering their pass rush.
Gildon among Bills cuts
‘Gildon, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, signed as a free agent in July after spending 10 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is Pittsburgh’s all-time sack leader with 77 and had six last season.’
