‘They traded down from No. 14 to No. 21 to take cornerback Nate Clements in 2001 and dealt the 14th pick to New England in 2002 for quarterback Drew Bledsoe. The Bills regained a first-round pick last year in the Peerless Price trade with Atlanta and surprisingly took running back Willis McGahee with the 23rd pick.’

‘He was chosen in the fifth round of the 1993 NFL draft by Buffalo, where he played for three seasons, including the 1993 season when the Bills played in Super Bowl XXVIII.’

You don’t even want to think about a high school kid and his ability. Would there be an exception here and there? There always is. Herschel Walker may be one; Randy White. But how many of those guys are there in the whole history of football?”‘

‘Donahoe says the club doesn’t necessarily have to get a man that will play right away. He did mention that they already have a franchise quarterback in Drew Bledsoe, but they want to draft another one. Donahoe said if a franchise quarterback was available between picks ten and 13, it would be hard to turn that player down.’

‘The Buffalo Bills brass sat down with the media Monday to discuss the upcoming NFL Draft. Team President and General Manager Tom Donahoe, Assistant General Manager Tom Modrak and Head Coach Mike Mularkey fielded questions concerning the Bills needs.’

‘Buffalo conducted a three-day mandatory veteran camp March 24-26 and the team will hold 14 days of organized team activity that begins in late May and extends into mid-June. Mularkey anticipates some veterans will take part in the rookie orientation camp.’
