‘"Week-in and week-out there is never an easy game in this league. I was proud of the guys fighting through a lot of things today and staying together, staying tough and staying tight. We had to run the ball in order to win it today. To give us some type of continuity in the second half, we came out and ran the ball better. We established a little bit of rhythm offensively that way. The Bengals played hard, they did. They played well. They lost to Oakland by three and Pittsburgh by seven. It took us sixty-plus minutes to get a win out of them today. We did enough things to win. Obviously there are some things to clean up but we’ll take the win. No matter how hard it is, we’ll take the win."’

‘Is that the play on which you were injured?

"Yeah, that was the play I injured my groin on. It had been bothering me a little the whole game but on that play when I tried to stop and stiff-arm the guy, he did a great job tackling. I couldn’t get my feet together and that’s when it happened."’

"I just had to hit it straight. That’s usually the case out there; if you hit it straight then you’re all right. It’s the ones that barely deviate off your target line that get tossed away. I got a good snap and hold, from Moorman and Teague."’

"We were trying to go after it and try to flip the field for our team and get some momentum going. I didn’t get it and I take the blame for that. I felt bad putting our defense in that kind of compromising position. We left them on a short field. I have to make that play for our team."’

‘On any frustration with offense in the beginning:

"You get a little frustrated, but then that frustration turns into positive energy for us. We felt we needed to help our offense. Our offense was in a bind early, so we felt we needed to make some plays. We were able to get some turnovers and help our offense out. This is a team sport, when we’re not playing well, they carry us, and when they’re not playing well, we have to carry them. We know what our offense is capable of doing. We knew they would come through when we needed them."’

‘What was the turning point:

"We lost the game, what turning point could there be? There was no turning point. Are you looking for the turning point that made us competitive in the game again? Nobody’s looking for that. We aren’t just happy to be in games. We expect to win every game we play. No one outmatches us, no one outplays us, but right now we are just not getting the wins. It’s tough to win on the road and today was proof of that. They (Bills) didn’t do anything all day until the end of the football game. But that’s how it is on the road."’
