‘By the end of September last year, the Bills ranked 24th in total yards allowed and 30th in points allowed. However, Buffalo rallied the last half of the season to finish 15th overall and had a pass defense rated sixth best in the NFL. “We started out kind of slow, but I thought we made a lot of progress from the middle of the season to the end. We didn’t take advantage of some turnovers we came up with that hurt us.”‘

TSN’s 2003 offensive breakout team
The most obvious pick is Josh Reed of the Bills. "If I were a fantasy football guy, I’d take him," Bills assistant GM Tom Modrak says. With Peerless Price in Atlanta, Reed figures to catch a lot of Drew Bledsoe passes this season. Last year, four Bills players had more receptions than Reed, but none of them had a better average per catch than his 13.8 yards.
Three Games Down To Single Seats As Individual Game Tix Go On Sale Saturday, July 12
‘Fans are reminded that individual game tickets for 2003 home games go on sale starting this Saturday, July 12 at 9:00 AM.’
Bills bring in top FAs to shape up defense
After minicamp, Bledsoe, who probably tried to do too much to offset last season’s defensive struggles, assessed, “We’ve got the ability to beat anybody in the league. The thing that’s inspiring to me is to see the collective attitude that this team has right now … it’s outstanding, probably the best I’ve ever been around.”
Year Three: Gregg Williams
For Gregg Williams, the 2003 campaign will be his third in Buffalo after being named as the 12th head coach in team history. The consistent improvement and fierce competitiveness displayed by the Bills in two seasons under Williams has Buffalo fans extremely encouraged and optimistic about the team's immediate future.
Breakthrough players: Twenty in Jenkins’ wake
Mike Williams, T, Buffalo Bills: This massive second-year player will be a perennial Pro Bowl player for the next decade. He is a powerful force in the run game, but he also has the good feet for pass protection. The Bills have the makings of a good, young line with Williams the foundation.
Ex-grid star urged to ëtackle’ Peterson
‘Rep. Collin Peterson, an avid hunter and a Democrat, expects to run for his eighth term in the U.S. House in a race Minnesota Republicans put high on their priority list. One man the Republican state chairman wants in the race is former football star Phil Hansen.’
Win at home … or else!
This year, a number of teams with veteran coaching staffs must turn around their home-field situations if they want to be playing in January. Cleveland, Buffalo and Arizona all have 9-15 home records since 2000.
AFC East: Pickups may give Bills an edge
The addition of 11 defensive veterans alone makes the Buffalo Bills a serious contender, but the most important acquisition of all might very well be assistant HC Dick LeBeau. He brings the considerable experience and creativity that should allow the Bills to get the most out of their two new high-impact LBs, Takeo Spikes and Jeff Posey, as well as the anchor at the position, London Fletcher.
Top 20 All-Time Passers
Quarterback Drew Bledsoe completed 375 passes for 4,359 yards for the Bills in 2002 and moved into the number seven position on the Buffalo Bills' Top 20 Career Passers list for regular season play. Alex Van Pelt completed his eighth season with the team in 2002 and moved into the ninth spot on the list. Top 20 All-Time Passers

Inside Dish: Ravens have reason to be good right now
The happiest unit in the NFL heading into training camp may be Buffalo’s LBs. The Bills have two monstrous DTs — Sam Adams and Pat Williams — who should eat up space and command some double-teams. That should allow the LBs to fly to the ball without having to get off blocks. The key for Adams is to be in reasonable physical shape. His lack of conditioning cost him a job in Oakland.
Q&A with Peerless Price
PFW: How close were you with Moulds?
Price: We were close. We were friends. We were real good friends. During the process, he was just like, ‘Do what’s best for you and your family. I want you here, but …’ I told him basically what Buffalo had offered and then what the Falcons had offered, and he told me it was a no-brainer, even though he wanted me to stay.
