Antoine Winfield Out For Miami Game
Starting cornerback Antoine Winfield, who injured his knee during practice on Thursday, will not play against the Dolphins on Sunday. Also, the Bills placed running back Shawn Bryson on injured reserve today and activated Ahmad Brooks from the practice squad.
Bryson to miss rest of season with torn knee ligaments
‘Bryson missed his entire rookie season after tearing ligaments in the same knee during training camp.’
Boselli promises he’ll be back
What’s wrong with the Buffalo corners? Antoine Winfield and Nate Clements came into the season as one of the rising duos in the league. Now they are having all sorts of trouble covering anybody they face. It doesn’t help that the pass rush is woeful, but neither player has played up to the preseason hype. The Bills will continue to be involved in a lot of shootouts if these two don’t improve.
Bledsoe's Fourth Quarter Comebacks
In his career, Bledsoe has led 21 game-winning drives in the fourth quarter. Nineteen were come-from-behind victories, while two others broke ties to win the game.
Picked on all season, Bills’ Watson wants more
‘After enduring a stretch of games in which he couldn’t seem to do anything right, guilty of sometimes playing receivers too tight and at other times too soft, Watson enjoyed his best performance in the second half of Buffalo’s 31-24 win over Houston last weekend.’
Josh Reed Generating News As A Rookie
Through six games, rookie wide receiver Josh Reed has 19 catches for 263 yards (13.8 average) and 2 TDs to rank third on the team in receiving yardage behind Eric Moulds and Peerless Price. Of his 19 receptions, 11 have been for first downs, including his lone catch at Houston and 2 of 3 the week before vs. Oakland when he also recorded a career-long of 38.
Miami set to back Bills into corners
‘Miami’s Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain are one of the best cornerback tandems in the National Football League. They will try to be the first duo this year to keep Moulds and Price out of the end zone.’
Sweet tooth and Nails finally get on same page
‘The 6-foot-6 Nails weighed 387 after his senior year at Florida A&M. The Bills had him at about 365 when they drafted him, which prompted former Bills scout Buddy Nix to say, "For Jamie, losing 20 pounds is like throwing a lawn chair off the deck of the Titanic."’
Best meets the best in Miami
‘This isn’t just any challenge. It’s not just any week. This is the Dolphins. This is Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain, perhaps the finest cornerback tandem in the league. This is serious.’
TV blackout is lifted
‘Yet, because of returns of the Bills’ allotment, a limited number of seats are still available via Ticketmaster outlets, charge-by-phone and the Pro Player Stadium box office.’
Gadsden unlikely to play Sunday
‘They are also preparing for the possibility Gadsden might not return this season.’
Keep your head, Chambers. Just rest
‘When you consider the Dolphins have an off week after playing the Bills, why mess with Chambers’ head?’
Tight ends may be targets on offense
‘With rookie Randy McMichael (21 receptions, 292 yards, three touchdowns), veteran Jed Weaver (no receptions) and newcomer Desmond Clark, a fourth-year player, the Dolphins’ tight-end contingent is solid.’
Receivers still up in the air
‘"Even if I made a decision today, it’s too swollen for anybody to know," said Gadsden, whose wrist was taped and in a brace. "Hopefully by [today] or Saturday when the swelling goes down I can go out there and see if I can put it together."’
