Bills Safety Tony Driver Among Finalists Sept. Extra Effort Award
While rehabbing in Buffalo during the offseason, Driver spent mornings at the stadium and afternoons and evenings at community events. He was involved in the NYS Special Olympics Summer Games, attending the kickoff breakfast and the Opening Ceremonies in June where he walked with the athletes during the ceremony.
Bills penalties
‘That’s not to say the Bills are a serious contender for a division title, but it is getting more difficult to say they can’t be, if they can cut down on penalties. A fumble-less game from Travis Henry, and oh, even an interception, might help too against the Raiders.’
Bills’ attitude reminiscent of breakthrough ë87 team
‘So the next step in Buffalo’s improvement must come from the defense. After Sunday’s win, cornerback Antoine Winfield admitted, “Right now our offense is playing very well … putting up points and putting us in a position to win. Defensively, we’ve given up too much … too many penalties … touchdowns instead of field goals. “We’ve got to do more.”‘
Some upbeat shows on Buffalo to air on TNT, Travel Channel
‘TNT has moved up by several months the airing of the fantasy movie, "Second String," in which the Bills win the Super Bowl. It now plans to carry it on Dec. 18.’
Bills playing like division contenders
‘The win not only improved the Bills to 2-2, it put them in a position few people outside the organization – and maybe some inside it – ever imagined.’
Buffalo’s extra work racks up some NFL records
‘Buffalo is the first to play in three overtime games in the first four weeks of the season and the second to do it in any four-week period since the Minnesota Vikings in 1995. No team has ever played in four overtime games in five weeks.’
Google News serves fresh Bledsoe links by the hour
‘The search engine site Google launched a news page last week that has enough fresh links to keep you clicking like a rhesus monkey connected to an intravenous drip from Randy Moss’ medicine cabinet.’

Bills TE Moore wants more passes
‘”The reason you play is to help your team win,” the veteran free agent said. “I want the ball when the game’s on the line, Jay wants the ball when the game’s on the line. Eric does, Peerless does. Unfortunately, I haven’t been here very long so I’m further down in the pecking order, but the bottom line is that when your number is called, you have to make the plays to help your team win. When that happens, there’s a sense of accomplishment because that’s why you’re here.”‘
Where do the Bills stand after four games?
‘We all knew this team was going to be better, certainly more competitive than last year, but I have to admit I’m a little surprised that the turnaround from 3-13 has been this fast. I guess that’s what happens when you trade for a guy like Drew Bledsoe who right now might be the MVP in the NFL.’
First look: Bills week 5
‘The Bills have put up 132 points in four games, the Raiders 113 in three games. Good luck to defensive coordinators Jerry Gray of Buffalo and Chuck Bresnahan of Oakland.’
Bills starting to walk like Bledsoe
”’When he says, ‘We’re going to score,’ we’re going to score. So don’t argue with him.”
Buffalo makes negativity tricky, even after another tough defeat
‘After only a month, the superlative well already runs the danger of drying up when trying to describe Bledsoe’s performance.’
