The Bills played their third overtime game in the first four weeks of the season. The last NFL team to play three OT games in four weeks was the 1995 Vikings who went into the extra period in weeks 3, 5, and 6 (Won 1, Lost 2). No team has ever played four OT games in five weeks.

Peter King in his Monday Morning Quarterback column: "Buffalo QB Drew Bledsoe, who is not only my offensive player of the week but the player of the month. What he means to Buffalo can be summed up in one drive. Fourth quarter, first and 10 on his own 22, 12 minutes left, 20-20 tie with Chicago, five total yards for the Bills in the second half. Bing, bang, zoom. Four passes, four completions, 52 yards, the last of which was a 1-yard, perfectly executed play-action strike to tight end Dave Moore for a touchdown against a supremely fooled Chicago defense."

‘But, as Bledsoe pointed out, it’s his own fault he’s had so many chances. “I just don’t do enough in regulation,” he said with a laugh, “or we wouldn’t be dealing with (all the overtimes).”‘

‘”I looked up at the replay (on the scoreboard) and still couldn’t believe he caught it,” McMillon said. “There was nothing else I could do about it. He made a great catch on a great throw. What else could I have done?”‘

‘Bledsoe is now 3-1 career against the Bears, hitting 100 of 157 passes for 1,131 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions versus Chicago.’

‘Personally, I still think the Bills are another year — and one more incredible draft by Donahoe and assistant general manager Tom Modrak — away from being a real threat to do some playoff damage. But, man, are they fun to watch right now.’

Bledsoe talks about his former team, his relationship with Tom Brady and the 2001 season that culminated with him being traded to the Bills on NFL FILMS Presents: Fresh Starts hosted by Steve Sabol airing Monday, September 30 at 7 PM (ET) on ESPN2.

Many coaches would have benched Henry for the game– and understandably so. Gilbride, however, decided to give the second-year back another opportunity. “I wasn’t going to play him, but I looked at him and said, ‘I’ve got to give this guy a chance,” he said. “I have enough belief in him that he’ll come back. He’ll be smart enough with the ball and won’t turn it over again. He gives this offense chances as a runner.'”

‘”It was a complete team loss,” Bears linebacker Rosevelt Colvin said.’

‘It was Buffalo’s plan to stack the line and stop the Bears’ run game, bringing the safeties up for run support and leaving cornerbacks one-on-one with receivers. It’s a risky proposition, but the Bears didn’t have a run play over five yards.’

‘"We didn’t do anything real well today," defensive coordinator Greg Blache said. "We gave up plays in zone coverage, went to man coverage and gave up plays. There are no excuses. Right now, we’re just not getting it done."’

‘The Bills figured the Bears’ offense relied on its running game, and sought to stop it by any means necessary. "We had to commit to the box today," Buffalo coach Gregg Williams said. "We knew that was a big part of how they wanted the game to go, to get to shorter third downs. We wanted long third downs, so we had to commit early to plan the run defense."’
