The Bills waived Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas and Ted Washington today. In an effort to get under the $62.2 million salary cap, the moves were necessary because the three would not agree to the pay cuts the Bills apparently needed them to accept.

Bills fans’ biggest hope has to be that the team has figured out how to avoid another salary-cap mess like this one. They may seem to be cold, callous, disloyal to their long-term veterans, but perhaps they were too sentimental in the past.

According to media reports, the Bills have released all-time leading receiver Andre Reed. That’s not all. Nose tackle Ted Washington apparently was offered a pay cut, but declined, meaning he will likely be released too. Bruce Smith also refused to take more than a $1 million pay cut, as did Thurman Thomas. All of them could be gone when the free agency period begins on Friday.

According to media reports, the Bills have released all-time leading receiver Andre Reed today. The transaction was expected, especially after Reed openly criticized the organization on his Internet web site days before the Wild Card playoff loss to Tennessee last month.

Titan Frank Wycheck and two co-conspirators decided to re-enact the “home run throw back” resulting in the Immaculate Deception. However on the last series of the Pro-Bowl game Sam Gash fielded the kick and decided to stick with the original plan and ran it straight up the middle.

Do you blame Gash for not wanting to participate in another ‘miracle’?

Not all Fish fans are clueless – an example is a columnist for the Miami Heresay who thinks Ruben Brown would be a good match for the Fish – they have the cap room, it would improve their running game (do they have one? I don’t remember the Dolphins having one for the last 17 years) and it would hurt arch-rival Buffalo.
