The Bills waived Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas and Ted Washington today. In an effort to get under the $62.2 million salary cap, the moves were necessary because the three would not agree to the pay cuts the Bills apparently needed them to accept.

According to media reports, the Bills have released all-time leading receiver Andre Reed. That’s not all. Nose tackle Ted Washington apparently was offered a pay cut, but declined, meaning he will likely be released too. Bruce Smith also refused to take more than a $1 million pay cut, as did Thurman Thomas. All of them could be gone when the free agency period begins on Friday.

According to media reports, the Bills have released all-time leading receiver Andre Reed today. The transaction was expected, especially after Reed openly criticized the organization on his Internet web site days before the Wild Card playoff loss to Tennessee last month.
